Where's the line between writing "explicit" material and describing a serious and mature topic that needs to be explored?

I've struggled with this question for a long time.

From Pitch to Query Letter

I've worked so hard on perfecting my pitch over the last several months. Now it's time to take that pitch and morph it into a personalized query letter to an agent. This is a completely new concept for me, and I'm sure that my first attempt will be a miserable failure. But if practice makes perfect, then I better get started now--I have a looooong way to go before I get it right.
